With the Dolomite stage behind him, there is only one hurdle left for Geraint Thomas on his way to winning the Maglia Rosa, Mount Lussari. In a few hours the Welshman could (unofficially) be the winner of the Giro d’Italia 2023. He is well aware of this himself, given his tweet from yesterday evening.
First he took a nice selfie: “Cheers for a lovely day out, Dolomites. Only the three hour drive to the hotel now”. Then he thanked the team: “you’d never guess we were missing three men today. Wouldn’t be in this position without Salva, Swifty, De Pluskie and Thymen”.Finally, he posted a couple of beautiful photos of the ascent to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo: “Wouldn’t say I enjoyed it, but that final climb was pretty special. Grazie Giro”.
