The Giro d’Italia, a symbol of Italian sport and excellence, made its debut at Expo 2025 Osaka, further enhancing its role as an ambassador of Sports Diplomacy worldwide—a recognition already celebrated last year with a special ceremony at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event, held inside the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, was opened and closed by remarks from Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Among the participants were Matteo Zoppas, President of ICE – Italian Trade Agency, Vincenzo Nibali, winner of the Giro d’Italia in 2013 and 2016, Paolo Bellino, CEO and General Manager of RCS Sports & Events, and Roberto Pella, President of the Lega del Ciclismo Professionistico and Vice President of ANCI.
Thanks to the increasing internationalization of its brand, the Giro d’Italia continues to serve as a powerful vehicle for promoting Made in Italy around the world, highlighting the role of sport as a tool for international dialogue and diplomacy. With its deep roots in local communities and its ability to unite people through a shared narrative, the Giro confirms its position as a true ambassador on the global stage at Expo 2025 Osaka.
