Is this your first year participating in FantaGiro d’Italia and you are re not sure how to play? No worries! One of the strengths of the official fantasy game of the Giro d’Italia lies precisely in its simple rules, which make the FantaGiro d’Italia an incredibly fun and engaging experience. And for this edition, the game has been enriched with an important new feature, long requested by thousands of fantasy managers: the “repair market” transfer sessions. But let’s take it step by step.
The first thing to do is to register for free at www.fantagiroditalia.it. Once you complete this simple step – which also gives you the chance to enter prize draws (but more on that later…) – every fantallenatore will be given 100 Wolfies (the Giro mascot and the official currency of FantaGiro d’Italia) to build a team of 8 riders, selecting one of them as team captain, a crucial role since the points he earns based on each stage’s results will be doubled.
The riders’ positions in the FantaGiro d’Italia leaderboard will be determined both by their sporting performance (overall standings, individual stage rankings, placements in the mountains, points and young rider classifications, etc.) and by a series of “bonuses” and “maluses” laid out in the game’s rules and designed to add curiosity and entertainment, with athletes collecting them not only during the 21 scheduled stages, but also during hospitality events, pre-stage operations, and award ceremonies. There will also be daily bonuses revealed on the day of each stage, often linked to the unique features of the regions visited by the Corsa Rosa.
As announced in the FantaGiro d’Italia 2025 rules, some important updates are being introduced. This year, the game includes two repair market sessions during the Giro d’Italia rest days, allowing players to change their team lineup mid-race. Specifically, the two transfer windows will open on the 2nd and 3rd rest days of the 2025 Giro d’Italia (May 19 and May 26). In each session, up to 4 riders may be swapped, either to replace athletes who have withdrawn or to refine your strategy. Transfers can only be made between riders with a value in Wolfies equal to or less than those they are replacing. The team must always consist of 8 riders and respect the overall 100 Wolfie budget. In each repair market session, it will also be possible to change your team captain.
