FantaGiro d’Italia 2025: registrations are open

26/03/2025

Following the remarkable success of its debut edition last year – which saw 78,000 registered users, 107,000 teams created, and over 6,800 leagues formed – the FantaGiro d’Italia returns. This is the official fantasy game of the Giro d’Italia, conceived and produced in partnership between RCS Sport and the FantaSanremo team.

Starting today, registrations are open on the official website www.fantagiroditalia.it. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the spirit of the Giro d’Italia, not only by following the riders’ feats across Italy but also by engaging with the more entertaining, light, and curious elements that define the three weeks of the Corsa Rosa, now in its 108th edition.

The game has been launched with an exclusive opening party at WorldHotel Casati 18 – part of the BWH Hotels Group – in the heart of Milan. During the evening, initial tips on how to build a successful team have been shared. This “Family & Friends” evening hosted guests from the cycling social media community, influencers, and former professional riders. Each guest became a “Brand Ambassador”, contributing content, participating in our “Social Corners,” and helping to spread the word about FantaGiro.

How does the FantaGiro d'Italia work?

The game adopts the classic fantasy format – akin to the fantasy game associated with the Festival of Italian Song, which has become a cultural phenomenon with over 3.5 million users in its latest edition. Players, so-called “fantallenatori,” can create up to five teams, each made of eight riders selected from the Giro d’Italia 2025 start list. One of them must be appointed as team captain, a critical role since their earned points per stage finish are doubled. Care must be taken not to exceed the team budget of 100 Wolfie, the Giro d’Italia mascot and FantaGiro’s official currency.

The 2025 edition introduces several significant new features. Notably, this year’s game includes two transfer windows during the Giro’s rest days, allowing players to modify their teams mid-race. These transfer periods will open during the 2nd and 3rd rest days (between stages 9–10 and 15–16). Each session allows up to four rider substitutions—for instance, replacing riders forced to withdraw or making tactical changes. Transfers must respect budget limits, only allowing swaps for riders with an equal or lower Wolfie value, and teams must always consist of eight riders, within the 100 Wolfie cap. During these windows, team captains may also be changed.

Fantasy rankings will be based on a combination of athletic performances – such as general classification results, stage finishes, and rankings in the King of the Mountains, points, and youth classifications – and the game’s unique system of “bonuses” and “maluses.” These rules, designed to guarantee fun and engagement, reward players for things they do not only during the 21 official stages, but also throughout pre-race operations and award ceremonies. Daily bonuses will also be tied to the unique cultural features of the regions the race traverses and will include special bonuses created in collaboration with official partners.
