technical info
This is the longest stage of the Giro 2025. Starting in Potenza, the route heads into Irpinia through the Lucanian mountains, climbing the long ascent of Monte Carruozzo before briefly joining a high-speed road. Once in the Naples province, the route winds through urban areas with usual traffic obstacles like roundabouts, medians, and pedestrian islands. The final 45 km are fully urban, passing through a continuous string of towns. Road surfaces are mostly good despite some rather long sections of porphyry cobbles. About 20 km of motorway (Italian superstrada) are covered before entering Naples on wide asphalt roads.
Final kilometres
The last 3 km include a slight climb over cobbles followed by 2 km of flat roads leading to Via Caracciolo. The final straight is 900 m on 9-metre-wide asphalt.
