Tarling: "An exceptional victory, but what a stress the waiting was!"
The stage winner, Joshua Tarling, said right after the finish: “Winning today is definitely something exceptional. I was happy with my performance, but the last part was tougher than when we tested it during the reconnaissance. Even waiting for the other riders to finish the course was difficult, I don’t want to do it again: it was a long wait. I was afraid of all the favorites. Primož [Roglič] was really impressive. I gave everything yesterday, so I have no regrets regarding the Maglia Rosa. This first win in a Grand Tour is a new step in my career“.

Here he is! Roglič back in the Maglia Rosa two years after the last time
Primož Roglič is the 31st athlete in history to wear the Maglia Rosa in 3 different Giro d’Italia editions (2019, 2023, 2025), the first since Tom Dumoulin in 2016-2018. The record is held by Francesco Moser, who wore the Maglia Rosa in 8 different Giri from 1976 to 1985. Just like last year, a Slovenian rider takes the Maglia Rosa in the 2nd stage, but who knows if Roglič will want to carry it all the way to the finish, just as Tadej did last year.

Tirana, a City on the Rise
Tirana, the capital of Albania since 1920, is the political, economic, and cultural heart of the country. Officially founded in 1614 by Sulejman Pasha, it has even older origins, as evidenced by various archaeological findings. The city experienced rapid growth in the 20th century, especially after the fall of the communist regime in 1991, transforming into a dynamic and ever-evolving metropolis. Skanderbeg Square, the symbolic center of the city, houses key landmarks such as the Et’hem Bey Mosque, the National History Museum, and the Clock Tower. Tirana is also known for its brightly colored buildings, a revitalization initiative launched in the early 2000s to refresh the urban landscape. The city boasts green spaces like the Grand Park with its Artificial Lake, numerous museums, art galleries, and a vibrant nightlife. Today, it is an important hub for universities and culture, making it an essential stop for anyone wanting to understand contemporary Albania.
