The "Goodwood shot", cited as an example for many years, became a trademark of Giuseppe Saronni's career, which was further enriched by a legendary rivalry with Francesco Moser. Among the various successes of this rider born in Novara but raised in Milan are two editions of the Giro d'Italia (1979, 1983), a Giro di Lombardia (1982) and a Milano-Sanremo (1983). Gifted with an excellent sprint, Saronni won 24 stages in the Corsa Rosa, placing sixth in the all-time classification. Additionally, his victory in the 1979 Giro d'Italia, achieved at the age of 21 years and 257 days, sees him on the third step of the podium of the youngest winners of the Corsa Rosa after Fausto Coppi and Luigi Marchisio.
