Info Tecniche
The proposed route is the first circuit of the Giro 2023 modified in start and finish. We tackle the two climbs of Selvino (famous for its sequence of hairpin bends) and Miragolo San Salvatore, recently unveiled at the Giro di Lombardia.
Departure from the sports area of Bergamo heading towards the Seriana Valley along the old state road through the towns of Ranica, Alzano Lombardo and Nembro. This is where the climb to Selvino begins, with its 12 hairpin bends at regular intervals. A brief descent to Rigosa before the next, shorter but more demanding climb. The road here is a little narrower than the previous one, but much less busy.
Descent to Zogno, staying south of the river Brembo as far as Sedrina and then moving north of the river on quieter roads.
Same finish as in the Giro and Il Lombardia through Boccola and Bergamo’s Città Alta (upper town) with high gradients and 180 m of cobblestones.
Recommended for those who are used to moving in traffic (beginning and end) and are well trained for steep climbs.
NOTES:
Most of the roads are winding and quite narrow. Pay particular attention to descents, especially at busy times (school exits, rush hours, etc.) when the presence of motor vehicles could make the roadway cluttered with vehicles both in motion and parked.
