BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ROUTE
The route rolls across the Cuneo plain, partly on secondary roads and partly on cycle paths.
Technical info
Start from Piazza Europa/Corso Nizza. After a short stretch along the Corso, turn into the low-traffic Via Avogadro and reach the Via degli Angeli cycle path. From there, take Via Porta Mondovì and cross the bridge over the Gesso to leave the town. Follow the secondary roads towards Boves, being very careful not to enter the busy provincial roads around it, such as the SP21.
Upon riding through Boves, you can visit the Sanctuary Regina Pacis and Piazzale del Rosario. From km 14 to km 15 you need to ride on the SP21 and turn to Borgo San Dalmazzo.
Then you are back on country roads like the one running along the Gesso River and Cuneo’s Via Vecchia, off the beaten paths.
Once you are back in Cuneo, the route climbs to Piazza Galimberti – which, although a little busy, is a must during your visit – and then returns to the start.
NOTES:
In the city centre there are several alternative car parks to that by the start point.
ROUTE CHANGES DURING YOUR RIDE:
If you are a very well-trained amateur rider (A***/A**** on the scale here), you can change the route and negotiate the Colletto del Moro (2.4km / 12.3% average gradient, 19% max. gradient). Included in the Giro 2002, it leads to Robilante, wherefrom you can go to Borgo San Dalmazzo. As it is a arrow and extremely steep road, consider using the 32 in the rear.
If you want to keep away from the traffic, the Corso Nizza/Piazza Galimberti stretch can be avoided by beginning from the sports district by Porta Mondovì.
