Outward and return route on the Boite cycle path with a slight uphill gradient in the return section.

Departure from the Fiames sports field with an initial dirt road (alternatively you can reach Cortina from the state road or from the center of Cortina itself). The cycle path descends slightly towards San Vito di Cadore and Borca di Cadore where you make the halfway point (if you wish, for those with architectural interests, you can see the Eni Village on the side of the mountain built in the 1960s, still today an example of company welfare). Ascent on the other side of the Boite up to San Vito and return to Cortina along the cycle path.

NOTES:
Some sections of the track are not paved. A sector between Zuel (Olympic trampoline) and San Vito is next to the state road separated by the guard-rail.
The area of Chiappuzza and Lake Mosigo has recently been the location of several seasons of a television drama.
The cycle path in the section immediately adjacent to Cortina d’Ampezzo is often occupied by pedestrians on a walk throughout the site, pay close attention.

Cortina d’Ampezzo is located in the heart of the Veneto Dolomites (Belluno), in a wide basin surrounded by renowned peaks such as the Tofane and Cristallo (to name the nearest and highest ones). Peaks which, like all the Dolomites, turn pink at sunrise and sunset, thanks to the mineral composition of the rocks.

The mountains of Cortina d’Ampezzo were the scene of battles in World War I, Cortina being on Austrian territory at the time. The restoration of wartime archaeology has resulted in a vast open-air museum.

In 1956, Cortina d’Ampezzo hosted the Winter Olympics. The Olympic Games were broadcast live on television for the first time in Italy. Since then, Cortina has become one of the most prestigious sports locations in the world.
