tourist info

Located at the north-eastern end of the Venetian Lagoon, Caorle overlooks the upper Adriatic Sea and is home to the Caorle Lagoon, a protected natural area where special flora and fauna (e.g. orchids and red herons) can be admired. In the recent past, the Lagoon has been a privileged place for inshore fishing. Until the 1960s, the local fishermen would fish from the the so-called “Casoni” (literally, big houses), dwellings built with woven marsh reeds.

Ernest Hemingway is among the most renowned personalities to have loved this place.
